I have to hereby report that in my experiences, the most demeaning experience I have had as a patient per se is the 500 question psychological tests that I have been asked to take on 2 occasions. I imagine I may have even taken one prior to medical school. It is demeaning and is it asinine. Does anyone really think that you are going to find a perversion or social deviance in a simple test of pick one or another option? And people even make mistakes! I had one come back to me and someone suggested that it might mean I have schizophrenia. Do I look disorganized to you?????? For all the time and effort that I have put into these, once ruining 2 of the nicest afternoons in the springtime, I have nothing to show other than an appeased psychologist whose education is not even a match for a well trained physician. This is heresy in that it really is not going to reveal the inner most workings of the mind and is used by people to "get to know you" before half of them even spend 3 minutes smiling at you and seeing if you even smile back. I can not believe that we still employ such measures. Did they think I was going to be the next mass murderer and that a simple annoying time consuming test where I fill in a bubble is going to tell them intent, motive and insanity???? I find that is is a very undignifying situation to be demanded by a psychologist to take a test and give them the "inner workings" of your mind in response to questions like "id really like to steal if i wouldn't get caught".
Give it up. I pray that in heaven you offer me a tribute for what I have had to go through for your "professional" needs.
