Casualty of war

I must say that its taken me some time to understand the universe in which we live. That said Im sure there is too much we don't know.  But the idea of christianity had perplexed me for a while. I had considered that this entity that is refered to called "satan" was a horrible force in the universe that did bad things and created things that destroy the good people among us.  C'mon give me a break.  To think there is a "satan" is to think that God is not in control.  Foolishness.  Satan too, I believe is an imaginary idea that God created to make the poor earthlings feel that there is more to be worried about than life and smelling good in the morning.  I must say that I feel that the idea of satan is warranted as people really have to watch out for evil.  It does indeed exist.  But for an entity called "satan" to exist, it would figure that God had created him.
Now, true, the Jewish faith may once in a million thoughts mention this "satan" entity.  I have seen the word satan listed in one of my Artscroll orthodox Jewish use prayer books.  The complete artscroll siddur I think. I do not know which page it is on but there is one prayer against satan.  Good.  You really arent supposed to think about a satan when you can think about God.  You are to love and fear God.  If you are going through tribulation, its God's plan.  If you are a transgressor, God will be the one to correct you in some way in my opinion.  I must say that sadly, it took me a while to believe this. I believed for a short time that there was a satan we needed to watch our soul for his influence.  That takes me to my sad story about a dear lovely friend that I have met in the past few years online.  She is an Irish Catholic who goes to church religiously.   She has taken to visiting our Jewish chat room and makes friends fast.  A very smart and intelligent and well meaning lady.  She just married in fact as well.  I hope it is her fortune to be married now throughout her lifetime to the fellow.  Baruch Hashem.  That said, I once pursued the topic of religion with her as her constant presence in our Jewish room is slighly disruptive as there is some missionary feelings I get considering she refuses to discuss religious topics, but constantly states she is a true Catholic who is religious about church and the like.  I am not a jerk. I was trying to challenge her beliefs as she was coming to a room on our beliefs and may have wished to know more about the lives of the Jewish people.  So one day, I mentioned to her that I felt that the christian bible was an anathema to the Jewish laws and that perhaps this "satan" was the one who created it.   Harsh, I know.  Maybe it was when I was in a less than optimal benevolent status in my lifetime.  Clearly.  I now know this is probably not so. I must believe that with a movement that has caught on so critically in the human race, that God must have a plan and God must be behind this book.  The book as I was alluding to in the previous email is a very less than optimally written book in that it has tons of inconsistencies and that it does not support the ideas of the Jewish faith in any capacity.  That is a fact.  I think that God wanted it to be somthing we would all discover.  This lawyer Asher Norman did a great job discussing all of the inconsistencies.  Its a must read.
So to my friend, "A", I must tell her that I am really sorry that I may have offended her sensibilities, but that I was on a 'mission' to find truth and righteousness in my lifetime.  You were always a good friend and though you refuse to speak with me, I will remain with you in my thoughts from time to time.  Best wishes.
