Who we really are

I must say that at age 5, I have the most solid memories of my purest time in my childhood.  I was living in Acton, Ma where my father worked for Grace company. I always remembered our address, 10 Paul Revere Road.   It was a fine medium sized house, forest green, sitting atop an incline/hill.  I just have so many pleasant memories of that year of my life.  My mother liked to take us to Lexington (or was it Concord) where there is the Old North Bridge. I loved that place.  I actually really loved the story of the bridge.  It was a revolutionary war bridge that I believe was destroyed to keep the enemy from advancing.  It was later restored to its original form. Just the neatest looking bridge. Every American should know the Old North Bridge.   At my house we had slate stepping stones outside. I might pick one up to find a salamander or manbe a potatoe bug underneath.  I remember my neighbor from across the street.  His name was John.  I remember visiting this one year older friend and seeing all the neat toys he had amassed, an Eagle Space ship, Shogun warriers and though it did not dawn on me to take a liking to this band, I was introduced to Kiss by seeing  Kiss cards. I believe I felt that they were sort of sadistic in appearance.  I really got that feeling (though clearly not the word) at that young age of 4-5.   The best memory was that there was this very large rock somewhere in the wooded area behind our backyard.  It was about 12 to 15 feet in height ane maybe 20 feet long. How it ever got there and was above ground, I have no idea.  Must have been dragged in?????  Who knows.   I must say that even though I did not know about God other than maybe I had heard of him in a conversation, I must have had respect for my Creator.  Here was my rock.  And what a fine rock indeed. I may have climbed it a few times.
I even had my first play mate girl friend at that age. I remember a girl who lived a few backyards from us who was indeed Jewish.  Her name was Becca.  She was a friendly girl who liked to play with tea cups.  I do remember spending a day at her home and having tea with her.   That is not a bad experience for a 5 year old.  I do wonder what has become of both of these friends. The first friendships that I found in my lifetime. (sadly, I am sure that I dont remember the 2-3 year olds at some play school).
One last memory of that year was that there was a lightning storm.   It toppled 2 trees in our backyard.  Fortunately they fell across a ditch that was behind our house.  You could climb over the ditch on them.  The first time that I was able to see mother nature in her glory.

The school in that area was a montesori school and I ate its curriculum up . I spend kindergarden and maybe the first 2 weeks of first grade there. I remember that in first grade we were able to use a jig saw (what an experience for a 5 year old) to edge out a wooden perhaps penguin from a block of wood.
I also remember my favorite toy of the time, a dinosaur, one with the large fin like structure on its back. Probably a 5 dollar rubber/plastic toy that brought me much glee and happiness. It was the only time I was intersted in dinosaurs in my lifetime.
