Tipping the ship so that you can catch a fish

What can I say. I have health concerns that I do not feel concern my every fellow I meet. Right?  That said, I have had a few acquaintences who, upon arguing with me regarding my own presentation or concerns, have downgraded me socially due to a history of visiting a psychiatrist.  This is heresy.  One is permitted to visit a physician and if one has a need, treatment should certainly be administered.  This is healthy.  To downgrade someone socially due to a mental illness that is either perceived or actual is like cutting your own backyard with a razor blade and a sledgehammer.  I call this "petty pantry syndrome".  I catch it quite often these days.
This means that the person does not see my pantry as being filled enough for him or her to view me as socially relevant in life.   If I get asked about my mental health, that is fine by me.  But to tell me that "you are not well mentally" when one is confronted with a challenge that I pose (doctors challenge people.  When I went to medical school, our motto was "accept the challenge"), I regard you as a socially misfit and unruly individual.   You'd be surprised how many supposedly professional persons find their way into this category.
