Good fortune
Its after 3 pm today and the snow is falling here. I went outside and took in a pipe. The Fireside tobacco mix that tastes like birch trees. It was a nice pleasant smoke and the snow is falling at a slightly lightly moderate pace. Enough to make the roads turn troublesome after probably the last hour or so. And today I happened to look down upon my black corduroy left glove holding my pipe and notice how remarkable the snow looked. I dont recall the last time I've ever looked at a snow flake. Many many years. Not since youth. I guess that after all these years, snow was just somthing you dealt with and waited for it to melt. Today I got to study the intricacies of the snow flakes that were so visible on the black clothlike material. They say no two snowflakes look alike. Almost true. You do see some similar ones with the six pointed fern pattern. But so too, there are always a few with a greater fern or an almost hexagonal shape with a filled in fern pattern. It was a nice moment. The smoke was nice and the cool air not too cold was pleasing. I must remark that winter always made me think of the wars of the past.... the destruction of armies invading Russia in the wintertime..... the forests of Germany during the war with men running to and fro looking for protection from gun, knife and grenade. (likely this was enforced by some video gaming I have played of that time period). So today, I felt that Winter was pleasing. Nice. Solace filled. Peaceful. A time for the soul to find joy, benevolence and comfort.
