Parlor games on shabbas

Parlor games like chess, checkers and backgammon are fun and good, but you really should consider doing a good job keeping them from being a diversion from the life of the Universe.
This means you have to tweak the day and run them in a different way from their real game play.

If you play backgammon, set the pieces up in a different manner from the usual set up.
In chess, I recommened changing the knight with the bishop and setting up a "Jewish Chess" motif.

Checkers you start out with Two Kings in each bottom corner of the course and fewer knight unitarians in the front.

Thus the energy of the game on shabbas will not interfere with religious interests.

Someone will attack me because games are really not consider considerably right for shabbas. Do your own discretion. Its really not a habit of mine, but I did try it once recently.
