What is Pepto Bismal Judaism

I must confer in you that today there is an element in our Jewish congregations that is nauseating and even sickening overall.  It is a concoction of mistaken praise combined with a dash of heresy and a peppering of insolvency.

I am not too par on the idea of a system that caters to the wealthy as well as instills ideas of compounding interest as well as bringing home the 'bacon' in the Jewish circles.

Here are a few examples.

1. We have already seen Fiveish.
2.  Synagogue membership discrepancies.
The synagogues in some congregations will not allow you a full membership if you do not pay a certain base amount of dues.  I remember as a Reform Youth that the Reform synagogue would structure its dues levels individually by what it thought each could pay.  When I was a member and had a minor amount of positive cash flow, they offered me a membership for under $250 a year.  I was a full member.
I later joined the orthodox synagogue.  Despite the fact that I was not in an employment and had little to make ends meet, I offered a full $500 a year for membership.  I was not good enough to be a full member and was only an associate member.
This strikes me as relentless pettiness as well as cash in the hand service rather than community.

3.  Overbearing Rabbinic ordinances including new and 'holy' ways of being jewish including throwing away your cell phone and disparaging the internet use because its so "immodest or immoral".
