'Bitul zman' is an expression that the ultra religiously aligned have invented to indicate that something is a "total waste of time" that one may be involved in doing. In effect, the going consensus is that if you did not take care of your family, study or otherwise be engaged in a jewish learning experience, your ways are a waste of time.
A fellow remarked this nice term to disparage a fellow jew online today about his interest in playing with rubik's cubes.
A lifestyle can be frivilous or foolish, but all in all, any life activity is not a total waste of time.
Toys and puzzles can build skills and happiness. Even the ball games that many orthodox jews stay far from can build community and excitement.
I am not going to clearly obviously endorse a world of avoiding Torah study of course, but really, Torah has many facets and thus I believe that there really is not much that is a total waste of time for you unless perhaps you have lost a trinket and keep looking over and over and over in the same place where you are confident it no longer exists.

Something childish this way comes
Somehow in meeting with atheists, I am always challenged with the following threat of being:
Prove that your G-d exists.
Does the saucer ask the teacup to sit on its ring?
Prove that your G-d exists.
Does the saucer ask the teacup to sit on its ring?
Shaking the dust- Oh sunshine!
Shema Yisrael Adonai Elohainu Adonai Echad.
The Lord will reign for ever and ever.
So if G-d is one and G-d does not mess with the light of creation, what will your dust do to my brilliant light when you shake it off when I just do not receive the message of jesus?
Mark 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
Luke 9:5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
G-d is ONE.
I am quite sure that the dust from your little footwear will not effect my lifestyle and it probably wont subtract from the relationship I have with my Creator. But it might be memorable if someone wants to stomp around and make a tantrum I guess. Either way, you take jesus, I'll take G-d.
(there are many who actually take this verse literally. In reality this is a suggestion that the 'true believer' must absolve himself of any responsiblity for not getting someone else to take up the cloth of his religion if he or she tries to make the effort to share the gospels and the cross. Either way, I am not certain that G-d makes us all matches for the future with an anvil of presence that is going to change the world to a faith which may or may not be the authentic way of G-d. G-d is not going to send a messenger to everyone's doorstep with a message unless G-d is a nail polish dealer I would think. But I may be wrong. I am not a christian today. )

Loving the Atheist
Atheists are like lava. it starts out thick and hot and then it gets rock hard when it drys. Like lava, the atheist is not going to move very far in the planet in the future.
I so love the atheist that I will even share an airline seat with them... Well, at least I will sit in the seat after they have left the airplane confident that G-d did not exist and that they got to their trustworthy destination in one piece.
Atheism is the way to the merriment of tomorrow without today. It is a great way to go and if you are an atheist, you are not my enemy. G-d is real and you can not change that. So be happy, talk to me a little bit and do not shoot me in the hand because my life was happy.

All the Roses
I am not here to be a man who wants to begin a hate fest of those who are truly righteous and have a faith that computes at least for their world view and in hopes that it does not infringe upon the rights of others.
However, as a Jew, I am very noticeably told frequently that 'jesus is the only way and that the only way to have your sins forgiven are through the cross'.
I will not be the one to attack anyone else, but seeing that I am the one being attacked here for following the Torah of Moses, I will present the following to the arena:
Taking jesus as your relic to a sin free life is like begging for flowers at a funeral.
I apologize to those who are not able to understand that G-d is the center of the Universe and that do not wish to allow a jew to discuss religious matters. But certainly you must realize that there is a reason why Israel does not and never will be a christian nation.
Thanks for not burning me at the stake (I think).

Brenner's take on some of Rabbi Miller's insights
This is just an example of some of the differences in my own beliefs and those of our Great Rabbi. I will not disparage anyone from reading his work, but I do recommend you formulate your own ways based on his guidance. Do not just be a robot who follows commands. .
In one of his tapes (#706), Rabbi Miller delineates ten steps to greatness that should be practiced every day.
1) Say at least once (in private), “I love you Hashem.”
I prefer to say Baruch Hashem at least more than a good number of times a day. I think that saying "I love you" is obvious when you bless our G-d. And I think that its wrong to actually use that wording as it does imply that Hashem is of our own faith in life and He is not. He is our G-d.
Also, try saying the shema at least once before bedtime or when you lay down.
2) Spend thirty seconds thinking about Olam Habba.
Good idea. Spend your day giving some thought to tomorrow. And when you get to thinking of heaven, give it as much thought as you need.
3) At least one time during the day, for example during meal times, acknowledge that your actions are L’Shem Shamayim.
Neat thought. Good friend of Hashem to think this one. I am very satisfied making a bracha for meals. But its a good concept and thats the point. Not to change your whole routine.
4) When saying the beracha of “Malbish Arumim - He clothes the naked,” spend thirty seconds contemplating the great gift of garments, i.e., pockets, buttons, shoelaces, etc.
Thinking of anything is great when you think of how G-d clothes the naked. But I am not sure that this is the exact science our G-d needs us to contemplate. But give it a thought once or twice.
I guess for me, I would concentrate on the fact that you simply have clothing and always had clothing. But that is true that the minutia and elements of our garb are of course a blessing too.
5) Spend one minute thinking over yesterday (cheshbon hanefesh).
Think of your past. Let your G-d and the Angels help you wander in your thought processes where they may be required and do what comes to mind as your needs develop.
6) When reciting the words, “If I forget you, Yerushalayim…,” sit down on the floor in privacy, for one second to think about the loss of Yerushalayim.
I'll have to consider giving this a try maybe sometime. I can not criticize what I have not experienced.
(The following four relate specifically to bein adam le’chaveiro - interpersonal relations.)
7) Do one act of kindness a day that no one, other than Hashem, knows about.
Encourage somebody - thereby imitating Hashem, Who lifts up the humble.
Good thought. Do your best everyday. Secret mitzvahs come and go. I do not think its something you need to plan or focus your future on doing, but make certain that if there is one, its your secret and Hashems, if that may be the future you are given.
9) Once a day, when looking at another person, think, “I’m seeing a tzellem Elokim.”
Fun suggestion. Likely not my daily interest, but I will always be in my mind when I think of this able to envision at least one man who fits this description.
10) Just like Hashem’s image shines on us, SMILE!
Absolutely

Rabbi Miller

Today is the yahrzeit of the well known and greatly admired and well read Rabbi, Avigdor Miller, Zt'l.
I found a friend who was interested in this rabbi some 4 years ago and he introduced me to a major player in the Jewish religion.
Rabbi Miller wrote many tapes and books for audio and reading. They are all very interesting.
The book I have finished is the book Awake my Glory.
I admit Rabbi Miller is an intrigue. He was noted to carry index cards with him throughout his day and add comments to them as he went.
He wrote some 7 plus books on esoteric and pertinent items in the Jewish faith of the orthodox variety.
I am planning to continue to read his books as I have most of them and continue to learn.
I am not going to say that everything that Rabbi Miller wrote aligns completely with my own vision and interests in Judaism, but it is richly worth giving a read.

When the worst occurs
http://www.vosizneias.com/104773/2012/04/17/berlin-nh-jewish-prisoner-loses-his-religion-suit
America is a land of freedom of religion. I think that it is a crime that anyone no matter how convicted or unworthy as a human being is deprived of his right to access his higher power to be seen as either repentant or seeking restitution for any pain and suffering he or she feels she has in their unfortunate and sometimes not even responsible situation (in the case of mental illnesses or wrongful conviction).
There is a major problem that our Jewish people are not given religious materials including tefillin and tzitzis as well as kosher meals of any decent respectable variety.
If a man is guilty of murder he is absolutely a man with no rights under the flag of America, but he does have a right to prayer.

Diagnosing me with Panel Dope
I was in residency at the time and went to a Boatshow in Miami. I went home and the next day I got a call that I had won a boat.
I have no recollection of ever entering my name in the drawing at all.
Either or, I had won a Logic Riot Sports Boat, 12 feet long with a 25 horse power Johnson Motor.
Not bad huh?
Well, I was reluctant and I was a little frightened overall, but I decided to pick it up and own the boat.
Got the boat. Got to take it out 3 times and had fun. Boating is a nice sport.
Well, I might have been a little naive, but I learned soon afterwards that winning boats was not a very admired or well thought of prize for anyone apparantly.
I was in a few situations where I might mention this acquisition and it was never met with any major pride on the other persons side for being near a newly appointed boater.
I do think that there is an element of thinking that if you win a boat, you are a ingrateful freeloader.
I am still in the feel that when I mention this to others that they redeem me as the freeloader that I must be for acquiring a nice paid for water ride that is a free ride, right?
To me this is worth mentioning as it is a heresy.
The idea that you are a free loader is based on someone who is not willing to offer a penny for the benefit of a good time.
I was not a freeloader.
I paid to go to the boat show.

My reply to an anthracite
A reply was written to a comment that I wrote that Many Jews who are not exposed to Jewish Ultra Orthodox Communities have issues with things like Metzitza B'Pea (the suctioning of an infants penis wound after a circumcision by a mohel with his mouth). (totally disgusting to me, but the religious community seems to think this is the paramount since someone once wrote a clip about doing this in the talmud.
The officious well meaning (right?) man who replied to my comment said something to the effect of "reform jews have big issues and have no right to comment on our community".
I wrote the following in reply.
You might be surprised, there are hidden tzaddiks among the even least of Torah relevant Jews. All jews have issues and a reform jew is a Torah Observant Jew in training in many cases. Either way, this is a disgusting experience for those of the Jewish people who are not subluxed in their view and imagery of Jewish ways of life that are unacceptable to a more less "refined" population of Jews. One who has issues is like a man with a cane. The cane can be used to help him or hurt his day. But listen to Hashem if you are on that level and pay heed to the promise of Israel. G-d is not a spoon that will shape you into a clock of your choice just because you want to be more dignified than those who are not as torah stringent. G-d is in control and you need to realize that Hashem is more than aware that there are less than Orthodox influences in a Jews life at times and that there are more considerations for any Man or Woman that must be met in order to justify the true faith of Moses and Torah. So good luck in your campaign to illigitimize and mock those who are not yet Torah observant or those who are simply disillusioned or poorly educated.

Why there are Atheists
The biggest reason people are atheists is that The christian and islamic religion are so godless that noone would believe that G-d existed after seeing the accomplishments and horseshow of the infidelity and inhumanity that exists in the name of the god that they claim to represent.
The reason people do not see G-ds nature in Jews is for the reason that G-d allows suffering and that G-d is not clearly in the newspapers as a source of new information that people think they want from somewhere else. Thus G-d does not exist to these people and the meer threat of a man like me or you being a jew and loving the very representation of the evils of the other people represents a cry that they have against any G-d fearing people.

Saving Private Fiveish
How to save poor fiveish.
Poor Fiveish suffers from anxiety and has a protoplasm that is rocking out at 96 degrees farenheight. Join me in my campaign to save Fiveish's health and help him eliminate core heat. Here is my example of what Fiveish can be like if we add a fly to his pants.

What is Pepto Bismal Judaism
I must confer in you that today there is an element in our Jewish congregations that is nauseating and even sickening overall. It is a concoction of mistaken praise combined with a dash of heresy and a peppering of insolvency.
I am not too par on the idea of a system that caters to the wealthy as well as instills ideas of compounding interest as well as bringing home the 'bacon' in the Jewish circles.
Here are a few examples.
1. We have already seen Fiveish.
2. Synagogue membership discrepancies.
The synagogues in some congregations will not allow you a full membership if you do not pay a certain base amount of dues. I remember as a Reform Youth that the Reform synagogue would structure its dues levels individually by what it thought each could pay. When I was a member and had a minor amount of positive cash flow, they offered me a membership for under $250 a year. I was a full member.
I later joined the orthodox synagogue. Despite the fact that I was not in an employment and had little to make ends meet, I offered a full $500 a year for membership. I was not good enough to be a full member and was only an associate member.
This strikes me as relentless pettiness as well as cash in the hand service rather than community.
3. Overbearing Rabbinic ordinances including new and 'holy' ways of being jewish including throwing away your cell phone and disparaging the internet use because its so "immodest or immoral".

Why I do not like Fiveish
This is a new phenominon that has meted the "frum" orthodox jewish world. A 5 dollar American Bill with lips and eyes and a life. I personally find this appearance of money satire to be ambivilently disquieting in that it does not exactly show that our people are orthodox, but it dictates that our people must be "holier than you". In reality this is the embodiment of a placated wish that the Jewish people might be well with eachother because it makes us a higher commodity.
Mis Cryer
Here is a mis cry.
The adage that "G-d helps those who help themselves" is a cry that is false.
This is false because for you to help yourself, you need G-ds help.
So to think that G-d is only going to help you because you helped yourself is false as it asserts that G-d does not help others unless they in turn are able and willing to be their own G-d.
Think about that.

Listen to your Ancestors
I must remark that my own family and others are riddled with quotations like "judge not lest you be judged". This is not a Jewish axiom in any sense.
Indifference to the laws of man and G-d are not to be taken lightly.
Judaism teaches us that we can and must judge other people's character and beliefs.
This is not about discrimination and not about hatred.
It is about being intelligent and conscious of G-ds laws and well being.

Childish ChaBaD message
A ChaBaD rabbi posted on his twitter:
"Think Eternally, act currently".
This is the funny part of ChaBaD... they try to be so forcefully polite and forcefully brilliant, yet they miss the trust in G-d that is part of Humanity.
Think eternally? Do we need to think of the infinite future when we think? I suppose that a little existential bliss and consideration of eternal life is in order, but I say the following to this:
Think Life, act Healthy.
Seems simple. Seems healthy. Seems more affable as well.
Probably something I might post if I was an online rabbi, but really do we "act currently" or do we just live in the moment of our lives?

Solemn stigmatization of faith
Radio outlets in my vicinity recently had a campaign that compared the atrocity of a holocaust denier with the "crime" of denying the experience and life of jesus.
I found this to be totally in disgusting and horrible spirit in that the holocaust would be used as a backdrop to get people to go to church and proclaim a faith different than the 6 million who were slaughtered for their faith.
This is a heresy and even a blasphemy to the name of our G-d.

Inherent Corruption
I being Jewish am not ply to the pro evangelical message that Jesus saves and that our faith would only do well with a christian scripture for change and belief.
I am indeed constantly barraged day in day out by enlightened messages from churches on the computer online and in the radio and televised media that this is the way for me and that of course, the only way to happiness and fulfillment is through jesus.
I must respond that this whole campaign is nothing more than corruption of the fence that exists between your own world of experience and the worlds of others on this planet.
True, in a christian broadcasting station, this message is to be expected.
But overall, on my radio and my television and elsewise, this is a corruption of values of decency and righteousness and I will be safe to say that this is not the proper way for a community to extol its own virtue or otherwise seek to harmonize this universe.

Vegetarianism: The rational Psychosis
I must comment that I myself tried being a vegetarian this past year and of course, it seemed totally rational and encompassing, but in the end, it was not to be.
I report that this is a rational psychosis.
I went through the whole gamut of believing that meat was a violation of some law of the universe and that the consumption of animal products was in its all an evil of some proportion.
I must report that tonight as I snack on a turkey sandwich, I really look back and recall that the most of your time you spend thinking of how different you are from the rest of the world and how much more ethical or more professionally orderly you are in your own way.
So I report this as a rational psychosis.
It is not a hostile way of life, but I think that overall it is not meeting with the realities of human development and human fruition.

Grey hair issues
I read an article in the newspaper that some women are choosing not to dye their grey hair anymore and in the work place, it is causing all sorts of issues.
True we live in a very subhuman society in many ways.
This is one of them.
The fact is that grey hair is an example of the human condition.
To dye your hair, you are denying people the human experience of seeing the human condition.
This to me seems dangerous and fraudlent at a certain level.
The fact is that employers fear for their money today rather than their humanity.
Newsstations refuse to let grey haired people on television, especially it may seem women.
So, I just wish to document that there is an issue with humanity here.

Captured by 'religion'
Today, there is a way of life among those who are church goers that not everyone who says that they are godly people or a man of their church or 'christians' is a "christian".
Not that I am for the christian way of life, I most certainly am not one of that breed.
But I will stand up for liberty where it is exerting itself.
I use the Example of Our President, Mr. Obama.
The evangelical sect of nice christians will not in many circumstances let him proclaim himself to be "one of them".
Mr. Obama is set on another stage. His beliefs are scoured by the illwill of the nice church going communities.
Mr. Obama has no duty to explain his beliefs and he has no duty to proove himself in a church or elsewhere. It was reported that our 40th president, Mr. Reagan rather never even went into churches. Yet the nice church going population did not attack Reagan as they do Obama.
I am not going to push anyone towards being a nice 'christian', but I will admit that they can have a life under G-d and with their choosing prayers and forthright attendance at some services if that is their wish.
So to me, this is another heresy... The heresy of the Church or the BELIEVERS of 'christ' to disavow anyone who is not 'christian' enough from being a man of the wealth of a religious life.
And of course, today they will say you are a muslim.

Dear Christian:
Dear Christian,
Please forgive the intrusion, but I must tell you that after endlessly listening to you inform me the Jew that I am not walking with the Lord because I have refused the dictum of the new testament you have conveniently provided my world with today to tell me that My G-d is a man and that my right to exist in heaven is only possible if I accept this man as my world and my lone god in the universe. I must tell you today that being a man of the Orthodox writings of the Torah children were given at Mount Sinai, I am bound by the laws and communications from my Real G-d to me in all the pages therein.
I must tell you of course that there is a verse in Deuteronomy called 6:13 which reads as follows:
Hashem, your G-d shall you fear, His shall you serve, and in His Name shall you swear. You shall not follow after gods of others, of the gods of the peoples that are around you. For a jealous G-d is Hashem, your G-d, among you - Lest the wrath of Hashem, your G-d, will flare against you and He destroy you from upon the face of the earth.
So you see, you the christian qualify as "the people's around me" and your god concept is not in line with the Laws given to my people by our Prophet and Law Giver, Moses.
So when you like to assert that I am stiffnecked and just do not see your heirarchy of your church and your priority in my life, I must certainly apologize that G-d made it this way.
Yours truly,
The Jew who keeps hearing from your nice christian princes who mean the best for my Nation Israel.

Lunacy
Anyone who suggests to you that your 'flesh' is the root of your sin is a lunatic.
Are we all creepy crawly manifestations of the integument and the dermis that strive to destroy your own future and the future of our own ways?
I assert that this christian belief is lunacy.
I have never as a Jew seen any reference to flesh in this way in the Torah.
We live for our own beneficience and if we sin, it is a sin of our own customs and our own soul.
We do not live by the interstitual tissue in our skin and deep tissues.
True of course, they want to of course suggest that the sexual interests are of the flesh and a pleasure to the skin.
Sure they are. Did you not forget that nervous system that has it hooked all together.
So to me, if you are a christian and want to preach about the betterment of my soul by controlling my 'flesh', I will simply suggest that you find an asylum.
