Why were Sodom and Gemorrah completely destoryed in the bible?
Sodom and Gemorrah. Two places we will never see again.
I have to say that its quite a scary story. One thinkgs that it is all the sin of these two places that was so bad. What could it have been? I have read that the fact is that they were stealing from one another in excess and as a common way of life.
This is the sin that we have here. Not just theft, but assumed normalacy of theft. The fact is that in today's society, theft is considered a no-no. It is always meted with anger and it always creates strife.
In Sodom and Gemorrah, the thefts were such that if you did the theft, noone condemned you and you were free to steal anywhere you wanted. It created a system of victimization that extended throughout the confines of the city and into the universe.
So it is my belief that Sodom and Gemorrah absolutely had to be destroyed in totality.
True there were the gamut of sexual sins and the like. But those are still found in societies today.

Why was Egypt Destroyed?
Egypt was destroyed in the Bible and in all of the prophets writings. God offers prophesy against the existence of egypt.
There is a reason for this.
Slavery.
But not just conscripted slavery such as what the Americans did in the early era of our Nation.
This slavery is mandated slavery.
The fact is that anyone who was Hebrew was manditorally a slave.
There was no conscription.
Mandating slavery makes a situation where there is Fraternization and that is the Great Evil.
God has effectively removed this evil from the earth.
The fact is that Fraternization is the most greivous offense in the military.
It is a horrible offense and that is why we have laws against it in the miltary.
If there is fraternization, there is death. This is to be avoided at all times.

Having Torah
Torah is more than just reading the first 5 books of Moses. Torah is more than a scroll that is put in the Ark at the synagogue. Torah is truth. Torah is happiness. Torah is life.
More and more these days, the jewish people of the extreme right wing religious parties express themselves in ways that they think are consistent with being Jewish and being true to "torah". They are wrong.
The fact is, if you want to have Torah, you have to complete get rid of all inappropriate hatred.
If you have hatred in your head and being, you are going to completely rid yourself of any Torah that you can have.
Today I will remark upon the children of a ChaBaD rabbi I happen to know. They have no television sets. They do not enjoy sports. They do not like sports. They hate sports and will not even mention the word. This is hatred.
Do you think that these refined children who study jewish ways and hebrew all day long have Torah?
I will suggest that they are far from having Torah in their minds and beings.
Torah is not just a way to relate to God and the Israel Nation. Torah consumes all of the history of this world and spits out a place in the world to come for you and your family and all that came before you and all that will come after.
Israel must indeed hold fast to Torah, but this does not just mean Hebrew classes and it does not mean study all day long. It means being aware of what God is doing in the world we live. It means watching that television that the ChaBaD and ultra orthodox persons do not want to keep in their homes. It means listening to the news at night and understanding who todays secular and world leaders are and who is shaping events and knowing what forces of nature and the universe exist and how they play out. It means being very intelligent and it means educating yourself in more than just a religious sense.
True in your spare time you are going to read the God given Bible and study the Truth of the Scriptures and perhaps some of you will go to a Yeshiva and study Talmud and the like.
The sad fact is that if you do not understand what the Creation of the world is about, you do not have Torah. You can read the scriptures alot and thats great. But today is a day that you need to be a part. You can not turn off Creation and the world at hand just to close yourself into a world of your own liking and choosing.
And this means, pay attention to the prospects and intersts of the community you live. That means sports. Unless you disavow being an American.

Ecclesiastes 12 what does it mean?
The verses in Ecclesiastes Chapter 12 are obviously about aging.
But what is the exact allegation of King Solomon in what he discusses on this work.
First translation is from the Art Scroll version of Tanakh. The second in parenthesies is from the JPS version, which personaly I think makes more sense to me.
When the guards of the house will tremble: (jps version: When the guards of the house become shaky)
You close your eyes on your soul.
And powerful men will stoop. (jps version:And the men of valor are bent)
The urge to work is diminished.
When the grinders are idle because they are few. (jps version: And the maids that grind, grown few, are idle)
Your capacity is smaller.
And the gazers at the windows are dim. (jps version; And the ladies that peer through the windows grow dim)
The mood is less apparant.
When the doors in the street are shut. (And the doors to the street are shut)
Your thoughts are jumbled.
When the sound of the grinding is low (jps version: with the noise of the handmill growing fainter).
You can not hear your heart beating.
When one rises up at the voice of the bird. (And the song of the bird growing feebler)
The sound of your breathing grows faint.
And all the daughters of song drow dim. (And all the strains of music dying down)
Your mind starts to tire.
When they even fear a height (When one is afraid of heights)
It is harder to get up out of the bed.
And terror in the road. (And there is terror in the road)
It is harder to walk and ambulate.
And the almond tree blossoms (For the almond tree may blossom)
Your body wants to give its last.
And the grasshopper becomes a burden. (The grasshopper be burdened)
The weight on your body feels heavy.
And the desire fails. (jps version: And the caper bush may bud again)
There is less satisfaction in breathing.
So man goes to his eternal home, while the mourners go about the streets. (But man sets out for his eternal abode, with mourners all around in the street)
This indicates that at this point, you are considered old.
Before the silver cord snaps.
Your memory slips.
And the golden bowl is shattered. (And the golden bowl crashes)
Your heart slips away.
And the pitcher is broken at the fountain (The jar is shattered at the spring)
You no longer can think.
And the wheel is smashed at the pit. (And the jug is smashed at the cistern).
You no longer can speak.
Thus the dust returns to the ground, as it was,
Your soul is hardly present.
And the spirit returns to God Who gave it. (And the lifebreath returns to God)
Utter futility- said Koheleth-
All is futile.

Another fallacy of christianity
Christianity teaches that the "wages of sin are death". That is written somewhere in the New Testament and I have seen it repeated over and over by christians online.
This is not the actuality.
The true wages of sin are infirmity.
The fact is, if you are a sinner, you are not destined to be destroyed forever. The wage of blood murder is death. That is a fact. But that is not a sin; it is a permanent transgression against life and soul.
The fact is, if you are a sinner, you have every chance to repent and change your ways.
There is a G-d and you will be in some sort of 'hell' for your transgressions.
In all good hope, that hell is while you are alive and that does not mean you are going to "get sick".
More likely you will have a situation in your mind and being and soul that does not simply resolve itself and makes you infirm and weak and unhappy and dissatisfied with your life.
The fact is, if you return from the evil in your life, you inherit life.
So there is no death in sin; just infirmity.

Declaring that you are the holiest man on earth
I must remark here that the Lubavitch Rabbi in his day thought he was something else.
He gave a single dollar bill out to many people on the event that it would bring them good fortune and health of course.
This dollar bill is none other than a wicked way to promote your own agenda and ensure that the world is afraid that you are the holiest man on earth.
I do not think I would take a "rebbe dollar".
And to be perfectly honest, I find this rebbe to be a bit of an impure mind regarding his 'teachings' and his conduct in his lifetime. Some suggest that he is the holiest man on earth... the "messiah". I do not feel him in my life as any major force of humanity in any sense.
So if you are going to give away dollar bills, better give them to charity.
Do not walk around offering a dollar to every fan in town. They might love it and cherish it, but what was your mission anyhow? I guess you are designed to be the bait for the next leader to discuss rather than the leader for us to follow in my beliefs. But of course many thousands of Lubavitchers can not be wrong can they?

Is there going to be a messiah?
There is no law to "wait for the messiah".. We are to wait on G-d. I know that may sound radical being that the contention of most jews is that there is a messiah. I am not of the belief that there is really one man who is going to save the world in the same fashion and the Jewish books in my view do not suggest that. They can be confusing and what is considered messianic prophesy to the world to me seems like orthodox considerat ions for an orthodox community and the remnant of Israel. So don't worry. I do not run around in my life saying "moshiac now" like many of my contempora ries.
This may sound like sacrilege considering I am jewish and the "13 principles" include a belief in messiah. I suggest to you that God has effectively confused our people.
The fact is that most people still can not comprehend a silent God who is all powerful. They expect a man to come along in order to do Gods work.
Of course many men come and go. And many of them indeed do Gods work on this world.
So if you want heros, there are many to go around.
As for a Temple and a Messianic age, that is always a possibility.
I do think that Our God will sometime offer to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem so that the Jewish Remnant can execute the totality of Torah on this planet. I dare to suggest that it be permanent as God may not allow an invader to destroy this temple. So if that's possible, I would indeed allow it to be considered a Messianic age or a world that is completed in a religious array.
That is to me the future that we should look forward.

Intermarriage among Jews
The problem I see with intermarriage is that when you get to the world to come, there is no total capacity for you to be completely with the one you have "married" in this world. This is because the place for jews and gentiles in the world to come is not completely in sync with one another. If you are jewish, you are a highly regarded soul in the world to come of course. The non jews are regarded with good esteem but they are not the same as a jewish soul. So if you intermarry and your partner does not convert, you will not totally be present with one another in the way you might wish to exist in the entire world of the future. Of course, I could be wrong, but this is likely the scenario. So dont intermarry and if you intermarry, have your partner convert and then remarry.
And of course, intermarriage creates evil in this world. So there are just too many reasons not to intermarry.
And of course, intermarriage creates evil in this world. So there are just too many reasons not to intermarry.
If jesus were alive today.....
If the fellow named jesus who is thought of as the fellow in the 'new' testament was truely a real person and if he was alive in todays modern era, this is what I think he would be like.
Jesus would hate video games. He would throw the hand controller much as he tried to turn the tables in the temple in Jerusalem in his time.
The fact is, Jesus would be someone that would shun modernity. He would be amish. He would probably not shave his mostache though as he was not known to be one who shunned the sinner and of course the origins of the Amish custom of shaving their mostache I am told originate from the idea that they left Germany where men were oppressive and vindictive and they all had beards with mostaches.
Jesus would shop at the 5 and dime and he would not really go out of his way to shop in major supermarkets. The idea of providing large quantities of food would intimidate Jesus since he was known to feed 5000 people with one loaf of bread. If jesus saw the modern day store, he might feel he had no purpose.
Jesus would hang out at hospitals and make himself known to all of the hospital security personell. He would try to involve himself in the persons going in and out of the hospital and perhaps try to heal someone. I do not believe he would have had the tenacity to become a true doctor though. Jesus was too keen on preaching in his days and truly to be a medical student, you have no time for random interaction.
So what do you think of my modern day Jesus?
I suggest he would not drive a car of course, so it is pointless to ask what sort of car jesus would drive.
As for sports, jesus would possibly be a soccer fan. Its a game he could play so he would certainly be keen to watch and cheer the sport. Thus I do not think that football, basketball and hockey would appeal to him. Baseball would be out of the question. They are just too sophisticated. Basketball is just too aggressive. Hockey is too scary. Baseball is too violent. (hitting that ball requires anger and radical teeth clenching). I do not think that Jesus clenched his teeth.
So thats about that.
Jesus might go skiing but I do not think that it would be popular with him. There are just not enough opportunites to randomly interact with other people when you are skiing down a hill.
So when Jesus does come back as they tell me he most certainly will, I hope that Fox news gets him for a nice cameo when he walks on water. Or CNN. And of course, I am sure that Jay Leno and David Letterman will compete to see who gets to see him turn water into wine on national television.

Why is there evil in this world?
I have my own theory as to why there exists evil in a world that is supposed to be a perfect creation by a God who is all loving and good.
Wouldn't this mean that God created evil also.
I suggest this.
If you create something from nothing, the nothing wants to snap back and take the something away.
For every action there is an equal an opposite reaction is a law of physics.
I will suggest that for Creation, there is an opposite reaction, though I would not say that is has the footing of Gods creation.
This suggests to me that when God created the world from nothing, that nothing wants to collapse back on the creation. Maybe it creates a sort of spiritual and mystical vacuum of sorts.
So therefore, we must deal with the evil that is trying to destoy the creation and make the nothingness exist once again.
I can not contend with the idea that God wanted us to have evil in our lives. I can not theorize that God had created this world with a plan that we all live without knowledge of good and evil and sin. I must think that the idea that Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge means that God created this world knowing that that event would happen.
I do not go around thinking that we are all evil from birth such as the christian theory.
But I will adapt to the idea that there is evil in this world.
True you can cry and give up hope and stop praying to your God due to the fact that the world is not a "perfect place".
Or else you can pray to God, and try to bring perfection to the world.
This seems like the most intelligent alternative.
To rid the world of evil, one can follow Gods laws, give to his community, offer charity, procreate if possible, create goodness and do the work of creation in his life.
Thus the evil that came from nothingness gets scattered and does not threaten your happiness, health and being any longer.
So if there is a world to come and it is not a physical world, there can be no evil. Thus if you believe in a world to come or the heaven that we predict, there is a way that we will eventually live in a universe free of limitations and provokations.
I can rest well with this in mind.
Wouldn't this mean that God created evil also.

Pandering
I was watching Fox news today. They have a story about not saying "Thank you" or "I am sorry" in the work place and that if you stop, you might "earn more money".
This does have some intelligent application, though one should reserve these phrases in certain cases when they are really due.
The problem is that you might actually be pandering in the event you use one of these phrases in the context that you are really not being thankful but you are "doing what you think they want to hear".
And another instance of this is the one who says "can I ask you a question". That is always pandering.
It is a crime of the spiritual nature.
I will not be too keen to organize the thoughts of someone who panders me.
I do realize I may seem harsh.
It is an evil decree upon the one who speaks in such a manner.
So thus, be careful how you address your employers, teachers or other friends in nature.

Song and dance and the untoward ideas of today perhaps
I read Ecclesiastes this morning.
King Solomon remarks that he amasses all sorts of wealth and things to find happiness.
One of these things was both male and female singers.
Singers.
But of course children of the astringent generations: King Solomon enjoyed woman vocalists and clearly King Solomon was not known as a major heretic, scoffer or sinner.
Yes the King enjoyed the light souls of the ladies who sang to him.
Today King Solomon would be listening to Heart, and Pat Benataur and many other women singers and songs. Peter Paul and Mary are ok and all the like.
So to tell me as we are told today that a man must never listen to a woman sing, I must remark that the wisest man who existed told us that he did enjoy ladies' singing.
So dear ultra orthodox communities who in fact have a fetish with walking out of places where they might hear a lady sing:
This is not orthodox. This is not wise.
This is not what our true sages proscribed.
Get it folks?
King Solomon remarks that he amasses all sorts of wealth and things to find happiness.

Eat well and enjoy yourself
Yom Kippur is not every week of the year. It comes once on the 10th of the 7th month.
The fact is, if its Shabbas and you are online or you might watch some college football, you are enjoying yourself. The day of affliction is one day a year.
I disagree sadly with the common religious folks today that believe that Saturday is another time of deep affliction. No television, no radio, no food in the microwave. You can not enjoy your whole day and you spend it hoping to get to the end of the day. Of course you will have some spiritual retreat and you always need that. Could you not get that during times of enjoyment as well?
I am going outside right now at 5 am on Saturday morning to smoke my pipe.
True tobacco has a risk of heart disease and other maladies. But I will tell you that I truly enjoy the pipe and cigars that are in my time.
If you are enjoying yourself and not committing a crime; by all means enjoy yourself. I do believe that our Creator has made this world for that purpose.
So to all the people out there who are living an ascetic sort of life, I say do it for a while but don't over tax yourself all your days. This world is not about self denial and we are not all monks in the mountains of Asia.
This is a good life and we do owe it to our own minds and souls to find enjoyment.

The right stuff
I just finished reading Ecclesiastes. The second time since last weekend.
I picked up a few things I did not pick up the first time I read it last week and of course from time gone by.
I read the book Farenheight 451 and the most profound thing I remember from that novel is that the fellow in the end made certain to commit all of Ecclesiastes to memory as each person was told to learn and memorize a book so that when the time of books burning is at hand, the book will never be destroyed.
So I have since read this Farenheight 451 and felt commited to learn Ecclestiastes and revere the profound insignt and strong wisdom of Kohelet.
Today I will say this.
If you are going to sell a bible to someone, tell them simply that Ecclesiastes 8:15 says that there is nothing more than a man can do in his lifetime except eat and drink and enjoy himself.
Thus I feel that by amassing a nice large expensive collection of music, I am wiser and happier and have enjoyed myself.
I even am justified for all of my expenses and long hours of playing video games in my youth.
So God is with me on these activities though I am not sure if the disciplinarians and heretics would approve that I enjoyed myself in a day and age where we must strive to be perfect, aim for higher plateaus and spend time wiser in a more efficient and productive manner.
Live long but do not enjoy yourself, they say.
Koheles says differently.

Do I humiliate you?
I am not your everyday jew and I do not seek to hide from heresy.
I seek to confront heresy head on and dispell the notions of anger and disrespect for Torah.
This may not seem like the likely mission of a doctor, but I will assure you that being in a doctors role in society all the more makes me one that must Guard Torah and fight for equal rights and respect for G-ds ways in this world.
This is Tikkun Olam.
I am a healer.
Tikkun Olam is healing the world.
I am up to the challenge.
I will say that I am not always received too well among many I have known for the years.
I surmise that many think that I should live as a shamed individual, especially considering that my days are not lived as a super employed physician or a married person (to date) or any other of the ideas that we have for a moderately older man in our towns.
But I will assure you that I see no reason for me to hide in the corners of the emotional enclaves of our worlds.

Jesus was an anarchist. !!
Matthew 21:12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves.
This indicates to me that Mr. Jesus went right into the temple, and lifted up and caused mayhem among the persons in the temple due to his disregard for their activities. This likely did not stop the practice of money changing, if that even took place in that day and age. I have my doubts truthfully.
But this is an act of civil disobedience. True he did not like that this might have been going on, but to actually disrupt the activity shows that he thinks himself to be a far more stage worthy than the others in the midst. I am not yet an expert on the jesus story and may or may not pursue this as a way to prove my own beliefs and dispell what I believe to be the heresy and impurity and evil of the gospels, but wait and see. It is not out of the question as a pursuit of faith and trust.
So like it or not, jesus was an anarchist. And this makes sense in that he traveled in his own band of disciples and did not exactly fit into the events of the day.
I do not feel that our God and Creator would make an anarchist our 'messiah' or our leader. This just makes no sense at all.

Lubavitch discussion from an orthodox web site
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/lubavitch
This is an ongoing discussion in a 'coffee room' of a Jewish Orthodox site that serves a yeshiva orientated population. There is much dissent regarding some of the experience people have had with some of this Lubavitch faction of religious Jews.

Trees and such
I wrote a book called Tree Forest of the Tree God.
In this book, there are a few comparisons that may outrage some of my readers.
The following will explain my viewpoints which are the focus of the renderings that I make in the pages of the Tree Forest of the Tree God books (there are 2 parts).
1. There is no divinity in Jesus.
2. There is impurity in Islam.
3. There is no trust in Reform Jewish Rabbis.
4. There is no justice in the ChaBaD.
Another controversal item will be that:
1. Shabbas in my eyes can include electricity.
2. Liberalism is true to Gods design.
3. Same Sexual interests may have been Gods design as well.
If you can accept that I have a literary right to discuss these topics in a fictional book of a forest that is run like the real world, you will like my book. If you think that I am trying to smear other religions or make a mockery of the Jewish world, this is not the book for you.
I realize that this book will be controversal, but I stand by my convictions that this book is written in the way that it was meant to be written. I do not believe that my 'opinions' are the focus of this reading, only my perspective on what really is right and Kosher in this Forest.
It should be a fun read.
If you wish to purchase this book, it is on Amazon.com and you can also get it from my book links on www.brennersbooks.blogspot.com .
I hope this can be instructive as well as interesting.
The majority of the book does not deal solely with the concepts remarked upon above and there is alot of interesting reading in this book that compares our world with a fictional world of a Forest.

History Redeemed!!!
I bought myself a fratnernity paddle and affixed it above my head where I lay myself to sleep. Its really nice and I thought I would post a photograph here online.
I must say I went through college in 2 quick years so I really never had time to make a paddle back then nor did I remember seeing too many others in our house I guess.
But of course, what fraternity experience would be complete without a fraternity paddle.
So I found a place online that engraves them and this is the result.

Heaping Hot Coals Upon the Head of your Enemies
A famous rabbi told me once that if someone is mean to you, you should not talk to them.
He was an idiot.
One should not sever ties with Gods children no matter who they may be unless they are clearly guilty of a physical crime against your well being.
To shun someone for mocking you, ridiculing you, smearing you or confronting you is to shun God himself.
I believe that the proper way to deal with antisocial and angry mean behavior is to STOP WALKING with that person, both figuratively and literally.
This way you still can show them what is true and right and you can stop from being their friend.
Just stopping talking with someone does not mean you have denied them friendship. It denies yourself your own friendship with Hashem. For what someone does to you in weakness or in hatred or in jealousy or other poor or wicked sense is yours to dispell and yours to respond to in any fashion you merit just.
So don't walk with the enemy.
Talk to him.
Then you do what the bible refers to giving him a meal.
And that will reap hot coals upon his head.

Kaparot: The Jewish Chicken-Waving Ceremony To Absolve Sins
You will probably not believe me on this, but the Kaparot ritual is a very bonafide way to indeed remove the evil from your life in some ways. The evil in your personal life is confused when you circle your head with a chicken or a coin and then if you give that coin or chicken to charity, the evil is confused as to who to go with and it invariably leaves you and goes with the coin and the chicken. So it may seem like a very silly ritual and weird and all that, but it really does indeed relieve you of some evil, though what dose, I can not be sure.
If you really want to get rid of the evil that surrounds your heart, you must make teshuva (repentanc
